I moved an out going message into my drafts file while it was being sent.
When I went to send it again I got an 5550 error which said, "A message in
your Outbox could not be sent. The server did not recognize the
recipients." Please configure your mail client to use authentication."

I tried re-sending is several ways with no success.

Did you try deleting the message and creating it again from scratch?
