What error message do you receive when sending?
The problem you run into is either a limitation of your ISP and/or work.
Many SMTP mail servers restrict access to those connected via that
service or the service restricts access to external SMTP mail servers.
There may be a work around depending on who is doing the restricting.
The error messages that you get in both situations will help narrow that
down.

Post by testis it posible to set up one idenity to send mail by two smtp servers
I use diferent isp at work & at home & wish to be able to send mail
from both sites currently I have to either switch identies or change
to outgoing server details
