Finding Attachments

I'm using OE 6 & Win XP and when I open an attachment it saves it in folder
= c:/document and settings/my name/local settings/temporary internet
files/content.ie5/UMIB51DA . The last folder name will change - not sure
why. My issue is when I want to delete these files, I cannot find them in My
Computer even when I change the view settings to show all hidden files.

Any ideas??

Open IE.
Click Tools | Internet Options.
Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet files section.
Check the box to Delete all offline content and click OK.

Those files get automatically deleted eventually. So unless there is
something confidential that you need to delete, you don't need to worry
about it.

The TIF (Temporary Internet Files) is primarily used by IE for storing
web pages that you have recently visited for performance reasons. Older
content is deleted to make way for newer. To manage/clear the TIF, in
Internet Explorer see Tools, Internet Options, General, Temporary
Internet Files.

Attachments that you want to save permanently, you need to do a manual
save (e.g. File, Save Attachments) before you delete the message. (As
long as you keep the message, the original attachment is kept embedded
there.)

I'm not sure that the ones put in by OE are automatically deleted. I don't
think they make it into index.dat. That's why I tell people to check the
box to delete all offline content.

I agree with Frank as what I'm finding is that when I do go to save an
opened attachment I'm seeing files that are up to 6 months old. But thanks
to the group for the setting recommendations.
