I'm trying to get several mailboxes set up on a windows 2003 system (POP &
SMTP).

I can receive mail on all of my mailboxes. WHen I SEND mail on all of the
mailboxes I don't get any error, but only one of them seems capable of
reaching the recipient. All of the others give no error, but the message
apparently just vanishes in hyperspace.

It has nothing to do with which account is set as default (in Outlook
Express).

All of the accounts were set up and configured in exactly the same way.

Any tips?

Thanks

The Outbox is probably corrupt.
Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance and see where OE is storing its files.
Close OE.
Go there with Windows Explorer and delete Outbox.dbx. With Win2K and WinXP
it will be a hidden file.
OE will create a new one when you reopen it.

If you think the Outbox may have messages you want to recover, instead of
deleting it, move, not copy, it to an empty Windows folder and then use
DBXtract to recover the messages.

Hmm -- there's nothing in my outbox. The mail I send shows up in the "Sent
Items" folder, but they never reach the recipient.

Then the problem is with your SMTP server and not with your machine.
Or else you're using incorrect addresses.

Pretty much what I figured. I'm just baffled why one account can send and
the others cannot.

You may want to record an smtp.log which will show more details about
outgoing mail.

To create an SMTP.log In OE5+, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance,
Troubleshooting, Mail
You may need to close OE after doing the send for the log to get written
to disk.
The log will be in the Store Folder which is listed in Tools, Options,
Maintenance, Store Folder.

Comparing the working verses non-working accounts may be helpful.

Note that if you've configured your anti-virus software to scan outgoing
mail, it configures itself to appear as the SMTP mail server to OE and
in turn talks to the real SMTP mail server. So the problem could be in
the anti-virus software.
